You are invited and encouraged to participate in an event we hope will benefit the future of education on the Eastern Shore. On the evening of Thursday September 26, 2019 at 6pm, we will screen the documentary, “Rosenwald: The Remarkable Story of a Jewish Partnership With African-American Communities as the first event of the second annual Eastern Shore Music & Soul Food Festival. The Screening and discussion will be held at the Historic Palace Theater at 305 Mason Ave in Cape Charles.
Following the showing of the film, we will host a moderated panel, composed of people who attended a Rosenwald School, activists for disciplinary change, and elected officials who advocate for increased funding for education change. We will then lead a community discussion of the history of African-American education on the Eastern Shore, the current status of education and its impact on the African-American communities, and prospects for the future of education on the Shore. The mode of the discussion is consultative, inclusive, unifying and elevated.
