About The Event

Eastern Shore Training And Consulting, Inc. (ESTACI) will be presenting ESTACI’s Anchor Awards again this year to women who have demonstrated leadership in serving the ESVA community. ESTACI Executive Director Gerald Boyd announced that “Northampton County Commissioner of the Revenue Ms. Charlene Gray and Associate Superintendent of Northampton County Schools Ms. Annette Gray-Thomas are excellent role models for young people on the Eastern Shore; they are being honored for their many years of leadership in serving our families.” Previous Anchor Awardees were Ms. Connie Morrison, Ms. Karen Hatch, and Ms. April Press.

Dr. Clara Smalls, recently retired Professor-Emeritus of History at Salisbury University will be the Keynote Speaker, and Curator/Historian and ESCADV Outreach Coordinator Ms. Kentoya Downing-Garcia will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Former Awards Luncheon Keynote Speakers have been Ms. Angela Ewing-Boyd and Dr. Zhaleh Boyd. The theme for this year’s Luncheon is “Women in Ethical Leadership”.

Polly Boyd, Director of ESTACI’s Empowering Women and Girls programs, announced that “2018 Young Leaders Scholarship winners Ms. Jacqueline Hernandez and Mr. Phillip Stamps will each be presented with their $2500 Scholarship Award. Ms. Hernandez will be studying nursing at ESCC and Mr. Stamps will be studying Criminal Justice at Old Dominion University.” “ESTACI’s ‘Empowering Women – Overcoming Racism, Sexism & Poverty’ group created and sponsors the annual Young Leaders Scholarship Awards; we are extremely proud of all the Scholarship finalists and winners.”, said Ms. Boyd. Previous Scholarship Awardees were Ms. Camra Handy, Ms. Kimberly Perry, Ms. Evelyn Dunton, and Ms. Liliana Rosa.

Musical selections will be delivered by high school students Ms. Inayah Mason of Greenbush and Mr. David Whyte of Virginia Beach. Delicious, nutritious salads will be served by Ms. Karen Greer Gay of the Weston A. Price Foundation, assisted by Empowering Girls members Jada and Nadaria Chavous-Brooks.
